Launching an explosive solo career in 2010, Mizz Nina’s debut album What You Waiting For catapulted her status as this generation’s “it girl”, led by the title track (featuring LA-based artist-producer Colby O’Donis), which went on to become the most popular caller ringtone of 2011 with over 600,000 downloads. That same year, Mizz Nina also took home the Flava Award at the Shout! Awards; opened for Usher, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber; toured Sri Lanka and represented Malaysia (with Joe Flizzow) at the New Skool Rules hip hop convention in Rotterdam.
After taking some time off to wed Noh from indie rock band Hujan, 2012 saw Mizz Nina come back strong with her sophomore album, Takeover–this time, led by the hit single of the same name with rapper du jour, Flo Rida. Opening for Flo Rida in Bangkok, Mizz Nina also embarked on a month-long promo tour around the US, which was filmed by Kyanite TV for her very own Takeover reality show that was later aired on Astro Ria. The prolific singer chalked up even more accolades after snagging an exclusive interview with CNN India and co-hosting an episode of The MTV Iggy Show at Times Square. Shortly after, she won Best Music Video at the Shout! Awards, and walked away with Best Album Cover and the Anugerah Kembara as well as a nomination for Best Hip Hop Song at AIM 19.
In 2012, Mizz Nina also embarked on the Passion8 project as an ambassador of Microsoft’s Windows 8 with husband Noh. Aired on 8tv in November and December, the reality series followed the couple’s travels around Malaysia to find inspiration for their work in music and
fashion with Windows 8 as their companion. Mizz Nina and Noh also made up one of the 12 celebrity couples to star in an episode of Destinasi Cinta Bersama AirAsia on Astro Ria, which saw the pair jet-set to the Philippines. Prior to that, Mizz Nina performed at MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia alongside Justin Bieber, Jay Park and Kara.
This 2013, Mizz Nina continues set her sights on the big time, having been honoured in January as a 1Malaysia Ambassador by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for her contributions towards nation building. She’s also unleashed her new single ‘Summer
Burning’, completed a collabo with American-Korean artist Jay Park and is currently working on her own TV show, Dance The World, where she serves as executive producer with Cleo Lee, head dancer of Mizz Nina’s Z Team. The groundbreaking show will cover the history of
street dance and how the art has gained a following in different regions, starting in Seoul, Korea. In addition, the prodigious pop phenom is set to add more pieces to her flourishing youth fashion line, Mizz Demeanor, with more fashionable staples following her recently released camouflage snapback caps.
Whatever Mizz Nina does, she does with a burning passion and commitment to her game. Whether it’s in the fields of singing, rapping, dancing, modelling, radio presenting, club DJing, emceeing, TV hosting or fashion designing, this feisty femme continues to raise the bar on her ever-growing number of accomplishments.
