Miran Hosny

Change Makers

Miran is a radio producer, freelance writer and editor based in Western Sydney. Admitted as a solicitor in NSW, Miran also has a background of working in Australian family and immigration law.

In 2010, Miran co-founded a Muslim youth targeted current affairs program on community radio station, the Voice of Islam, after finding a gap in the provision of such content in English. She hosted and produced The Y Factor radio show until its close at the end of 2014.

As a freelance journalist, Miran has written for news media outlets like Aljazeera, NewMatilda and the ACIJ.  She has also dabbled in fiction, with a series of her short story-style vignettes published in Westside Publications’ journal, On Western Sydney.

At present, Miran produces local radio content for an Australian public broadcaster. She also co-edits a niche online publication called Sajjeling, which aims to record and redefine the Arab Australian narrative.
