Ghazala Irshad is The GroundTruth Project’s Social Media Editor. She was previously Social Media Manager for the UAE-produced, social media-driven travel show Peeta Planet. Prior to that she was a freelance journalist based in Egypt covering the Arab Spring while completing her Master’s in TV & Digital Journalism at the American University in Cairo.
Her work has appeared in Gawker, CNN, The Cairo Review of Foreign Affairs, World Policy Institute, and Roads and Kingdoms, among others. She is passionate about ending sexual harassment and produced a PSA campaign about the issue in Cairo. She most recently volunteered to teach photography as part of psychosocial trauma therapy for Palestinian and Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
