Dhimas Ramadhan, born in Surabaya, Indonesia on 22 June 1970, is a critically acclaimed flamenco guitarist who has performed worldwide. From diverse venues such as the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Malaysia to music festivals in Turkey and Algeria, he continues to touch hearts and inspire his audiences wherever he travels.
Since 2004, Mas Dhimas has been a musician, singer and song collaborator in the internationally renowned Sufi music ensemble DEBU, where he plays a variety of styles but is best known for his distinctive flamenco guitar technique. In Jakarta, he also plays guitar and timbales in a Latin group called Primavera Band and has performed with other musicians including Glenn Fredly. A much sought after studio musician, Mas Dhimas has provided guitar accompaniment for many artists, such as Stanley Sagala and Intan.
Mas Dhimas has composed flamenco guitar pieces as well, most notably his recent tribute entitled “Taranta Para Mi Maestro Paco de Lucia.”
This gifted virtuoso has studied with Jose Luis Dominguez from Belgium and Spaniard Jesus M. Alvarez Lopez. Mas Dhimas is an accomplished musician in every respect, and is a graduate of the Jakarta Institute of the Arts.
Mas Dhimas’ musical experience and knowledge have been an invaluable asset to all groups with whom he performs and those he teaches. His hope is that he can inspire and share his love of flamenco guitar with eager students worldwide.
