Arwa Abouon

Art & Design, Creatives

Nationality: Libyan/Canadian

Current location: Canada

Born 1982 in Tripoli Libya, to Amazigh roots from both my mother and father’s side of the family. I received a BFA with distinction, majoring in Design Art from Concordia University in 2007. Through my lighthearted photographs to graphic interventions, video and installations, I question my own place within a so-called Western culture on the one hand and an upbringing in a Muslim household on the other.

  •  2014 Winner for The 26th Alexandria Biennale for Mediterranean Countries, Alexandria, Egypt,
  • 2004 Peter Mills Purchase Prize Winner, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
